These exercises for Te Whanake 3 Te Māhuri have been designed to support the oral and listening skills that you are developing in your classes. For each exercise, listen to, and follow carefully any instructions that you are given prior to a particular exercise.

The majority of these exercises for Te Māhuri are to help develop your listening skills. Developing your ability to understand spoken Māori is obviously an important skill. You need to learn to follow the gist of what you are hearing. Don’t be overly concerned about the detail and the things you don’t understand. Use other non-verbal clues such as body language and the context in which the person is speaking to deduce what is being said.

Listen to these podcasts several times and follow the instructions. By doing these exercises you will gain a deeper understanding of what you are hearing.
